All-Season Car Covers
An all-season cover is one cover you leave on the car through rain, frost, sun and grit — not three seasonal covers you swap and store. That only works if a single fabric stack can do four contradictory jobs at once: keep water out, let vapour escape, resist ultraviolet, and stay soft enough against paint to be pulled on and off every day.
Why one cover instead of three
Seasonal covers assume you will change them. In practice nobody does — the winter cover stays on in April and cooks in the first heatwave, or the summer cover stays on in November and traps meltwater against the paint. An all-season build is a deliberate compromise engineered around continuous use: enough waterproofing for the wettest month, enough breathability that a warm afternoon does not turn condensation into a swamp under the fabric.
What to look for
Taped seams, because untaped stitching is a hole every few millimetres. A breathable membrane rather than a plain plastic laminate. A UV-stable outer face, because ultraviolet is what makes cheap covers chalk, stiffen and tear at the hem after one summer. A soft inner face — fleece or brushed knit — because an all-season cover is handled hundreds of times a year and grit on a hard lining becomes swirl marks. Finally, a hem that actually grips and grommets you can strap through when the wind gets up.
Fit is the whole thing
A loose cover flaps, and flapping fabric polishes paint. A tight cover tears at the mirrors. - Yes — that is what it is designed for. The build combines a waterproof outer with a breathable membrane, so rain stays out while moisture from the ground and the car can escape. Take the cover off periodically to wash both the cover and the car, and never fit it over heavy mud or road salt.
- How do you know the cover fits my exact vehicle?
- Fitment is matched to your vehicle's generation, not its model year. Each generation has recorded length, width and height, and those dimensions decide the pattern. Where a trim changes the shape — a rear wing, a sports bar, wider arches — that exception is listed on the generation page.
- How do I wash a car cover without ruining it?
- Wash on a cool, gentle cycle with a dedicated cover wash rather than household detergent, which strips water repellency and blocks the breathable membrane. Never use fabric softener, never tumble dry, and reproof once water stops beading on the outer face.
