Exposed and coastal sites
A cover that lifts in the wind is worse than no cover: it flaps, and flapping fabric loaded with road dust polishes a matte patch into your paint. Windproofing is about fit and anchoring, not fabric weight.
An elasticated hem that pulls under the sills, mirror pockets that stop the cover rotating, and at least one underbody strap across the middle of the car. Add a second strap on exposed sites and estate or SUV bodies.
A heavy cover that sits loose still lifts — the wind gets under the hem and inflates it. A correctly patterned cover has far less slack to catch air in the first place, which is why we match patterns to generation dimensions rather than selling one size per body type.
Salt air corrodes hardware. Rinse grommets and buckles with fresh water regularly, and choose coated cable locks rather than bare steel.
